Driving Offenses

Driving offenses are crimes which involve a motor vehicle. These can include criminal offenses can range in severity from minor offenses, to the most serious of crimes. Every state has implemented their own laws regarding motor vehicle offenses. The state's motor vehicle department plays an integral role in punishing offenders of motor vehicle offenses. This department has the authority to suspend or revoke one's driving privileges after motor vehicle offenses.

This can have a rippling effect on one's life after a vehicle-related offense. Insurance companies have access to the department's records, including information about motor vehicle offenses. In some cases, a traffic violation will appear as a “point” on your record. Accumulation of these points can result in a myriad of driving penalties. For more serious motor vehicle offenses, a person may lose their driving privileges permanently or for a specific period of time. Driving on a suspended license can also result in significant legal repercussions.
